Have you wondered what you can motivate your child with when rewards aren’t working?

In our culture we use rewards to get people to do things that they don’t already want to do. For our kids, we will use sticker charts, “we can go to the park if we xyz first”.

A reward is any time we say “you can have this thing that you want so long as you do this”.

When we get stuck with rewards not working, we can revert to old school parenting like yelling and punishing. Sometimes we’ll increase the reward and even that can stop working.

Parents can also start judging our children for not being motivated, or worrying what will happen to them if they can’t be motivated.

In this video I take you through what to do instead of using rewards.
